The Honors House Deck:

The First of Many Projects

Above, see rising senior Yanitsa Toneva at the Honors Spring BBQ, catching some rays on the backyard deck. Note that, while Yanitsa looks lovely as always, the deck is in really bad shape. So, two painter friends of Dr. Wifall came over and conducted a deck makeover:

We now also have a sun umbrella for the deck, which matches the redwood stain!

No students were available to assist with the staining, since everybody seems to be working during the daytime (which is very responsible, of course, but...); however, we definitely want student participation in future projects, and will keep you all posted!
Dr. Brown and colleagues are currently laying the groundwork for many more initiatives. Maybe we'll have to do some evening gardening one day, when students are out of work and it's nice and cool....

In the meantime, our friends at Maintenance have begun some major clearing of unnecessary fencing and overgrown vines and such. They've been working hard!

  1. The deck looks great! Thanks to Rachel & friends for all of their hard work.

The flowers purchased by Rachel, Anna, and Fay are lovely, and I'm excited to see them planted.

I hope to stop by this week to start helping on refinishing the benches.
